Police ID couple found dead inside Gates home | Crime
Police say the victims of the double homicide in Gates were shot to death. Lydia Bryant, 27, and 36-year-old Luis Davila were found inside their home in on Lightwood Lane.
Gates Police Chief David DiCaro briefed reporters late Thursday afternoon. He said the two were killed sometime after 8 a.m. and that they believe this was a targeted crime and there is no apparent threat or danger to area residents.
News 10NBC also spoke today with neighbors who live a couple doors down from where the murders happened.
Steve Brongo was home and witnessed the shock as family members arrived at the house yesterday. “People pulled up in a black car. The next thing you know she started screaming and crying saying 'how could this happen?' I saw a bunch of cops talking to her trying to comfort her, but I don't know how you could be too comforting from that.”
Brongo's mother is concerned about the woman's 10-year-old son. “I can't imagine him getting off the school bus. His day started out normal and it ended in a tragedy. He got off the school bus. He walked inside and sees this tragic sight. I can't imagine, for this little boy. It's really sad for him. For everybody involved but especially for him because that's a sight that he's always going to remember.”
Mrs. Brongo says they never heard any loud noises or commotion. She says the man, if he was outside, would always said hello as she walked her dog past their house. “You never know what goes on behind closed doors. Because you have things like that happening and I was actually walking by there yesterday morning at 11:00 but I didn't hear or see anything. It's scary.”
The chief says Child Protective Services is working with Ms. Bryant's family and her son is staying with relatives. They did not want to make a picture available or speak about this terrible time in their lives.
