Sentencing in Gates barbershop attack postponed | Crime
Sentencing for the man convicted of a barbershop assault and robbery in Gates has been adjourned.
Richard Tortorice is in the hospital. He was taken from the jail Tuesday night for tooth pain. He was supposed to be sentenced Wednesday morning on burglary, robbery and weapons charges.
Richard and his brother Dennis tied up the 69-year-old owner of Sam’s Hair Studio on Elmgrove Road and robbed him at gunpoint in November 2010. The owner was so shaken up -- he retired after the attack.
Richard Tortorice's attorney submitted a motion today for the verdict to be set aside. The prosecution will respond to that on April 20. That is also the new date the judge set for sentencing.
The other brother -- Dennis Tortorice -- is already serving 10 years in prison.
